SUSTAINABILITY AT NEOMA

A slower way to get dressed.

We choose breathable cotton, hand-block printing and thoughtful design for pieces intended to be reached for again and again.

THE FIBRE

Cotton, chosen for comfort.

We are drawn to cotton for its softness, breathability and suitability for warm weather. Where a House of Neoma piece is made from cotton, we say so on the product page.

Cotton softens with washing and it does crease — that is normal for a natural fibre, and it is part of what makes the fabric feel like fabric rather than plastic.

Check each product page for the fabric used in that piece.

THE PROCESS

A slower way to make a print.

Our hand-block printed pieces are pressed using hand-carved wooden blocks. It is slower than machine printing — and that is the point. Small differences in placement, colour tone and detailing are natural characteristics of this process, not faults.

No two pieces are entirely the same. That is what makes yours yours.

Hand-block printing takes time, dye and human effort. We do not present it as a low-impact process.

MADE FOR REPEAT WEAR

Made to be reached for again.

We design for repeat wear — relaxed silhouettes that are not tied to a single season, prints intended to be worn for years, and comfortable shapes that work for everyday life.

Pockets where they make a piece more useful, generous cuts that do not need to be pulled into place, and colours that do not depend on being new.

HONESTY

Honest by design.

Sustainability is a practice, not a label. We are still learning, so we separate what we do from what we do not claim.

What we do

  • When a piece is made from cotton, we state this clearly on its product page.
  • Our prints are applied by hand, using carved wooden blocks.
  • Pieces are designed for comfort and repeat wear, rather than frequent replacement.
  • Natural variation in hand-block printing is described honestly rather than hidden.
  • Garment measurements and care guidance are shared so pieces can be looked after properly.

What we do not claim

  • We do not claim that every fabric we use is certified organic.
  • We do not claim fair trade certification where we do not hold documented certification.
  • We do not claim our pieces are zero waste or carbon neutral.
  • Where our documentation is limited, we say so — and we will update this page as better information becomes available.

Clothing worth keeping.

Our cotton pieces are made to be worn again and again — cotton that breathes, prints that age gracefully, and shapes that do not date.
